Lightning Invitational
NEWPORT BEACH — Sage Hill School senior Jaclyn Smrecek was named MVP in singles after leading the hosts to their fourth straight team title at the three-team, two-day event completed Saturday at the Balboa Bay Club Racquet Club.
Sage Hill swept South Torrance, 15-3, Saturday, after defeating Santa Ynez by the same score Friday to claim the top spot in the round-robin format.
Smrecek won all six of her singles sets in the event.
Junior Julia Blakeley, sophomore Devyn Billingsley and freshmen Katie Bick and Rian Billingsley represented Sage Hill on the coaches’ all-tournament team.

NEWPORT BEACH — Junior two-meter attacker Blake Kelly and junior driver Jack Yeager each scored two goals in the Sailors’ season opener Saturday.
Harbor, ranked No. 9 in the CIF Southern Section Division I preseason coaches’ poll, fell behind, 3-0, in the first period to No. 5 Foothill. The Tars outscored Foothill, 5-3, in the next two periods, but were unable to score in the fourth.
