Loraine I. Campbell

A Mesa Verde resident since 1965 Loraine Campbell has died at 84.

A native of Woodstock, Vermont, her hometown was voted “Prettiest

Village in America” in a National poll conducted by Ladies Home

Journal in October 1998.

She was a WWII veteran as a member of the women’s army Corp.

and served in London during the bombing raids. She also was

stationed on Angel Island in the San Francisco Bay and fell in love

with California.

After the war she returned to California to enter College under the

G.I. Bill. She met her future husband Bob in College. They were

married January 1947.

They were avid travelers and saw a good share of the world. Other interests

included season tickets for 18 years for the L.A. Philharmonic

Orchestra, season tickets for UCLA football and frequent dining out.

She is survived by husband Bob, sons Gary and Mark, daughter-inlaw

Pamela, and granddaughter Elizabeth. It would be remiss not to

include her loyal companion, her cat Poki.

She will be remembered for a constant smile. She will also be deeply

missed as a very special person who made 61 years of marriage a

wonderful experience.
