Local club hoops team seeks new players
Team Neighbor, a Huntington Beach-based girls’ basketball team, is looking to add players in sixth, seventh and eighth grades to its ranks.
Team Neighbor will play in the National Junior Basketball All-Net fall and winter league seasons, in addition to competing in tournament play.
Practices are from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday and 8 to 10 a.m. Saturday at the Marine View Middle School gymnasium.

Travel baseball team sets tryout dates
The Vikings 14-and-Under Travel Baseball Club will hold open tryouts for the upcoming 2008/09 season Sept. 6-7.
Potential players would typically enter the eighth grade in September and may not turn 15 before May 1, 2009. The Vikings program is composed of dedicated players with a strong work ethic, respect for the game and a goal of starting on their respective high school baseball team. The program will bring in instructors to practice sessions and the team will participate in various tournaments during the season.
The Vikings use the baseball practice facilities at Marina High.
Monthly fees include insurance, facility rental and tournament fees.
