Assistance League helps Pendleton kids

The Laguna Beach Assistance League joined recently with other area chapters to provide clothing and back-to-school supplies to Camp Pendleton school children. Base Commander Col. James Seaton attended the event and expressed his appreciation for the support to the families of Laguna Beach Marines stationed at the base.

This program, Chapters for Children, is but one component of National Assistance League’s Operation School Bell, now celebrating its 50th anniversary. Since its inception, it has clothed more than 2 million children.

Continuing the program locally, the Laguna Beach chapter members will soon begin filling backpacks with jackets and school supplies for distribution to area Head Start and Even Start schools. Numerous other activities benefiting school children will follow through-out the year.

For information on membership, call Joan Schnitter, (949) 951-9001.
