COMMUNITY & CLUBS:

The Newport-Irvine Rotary Club announced the selection of Jacqueline Anne Seiglie as an Ambassadorial Scholar for the academic year of 2009 through 2010. Seiglie is only one of three college students selected to study abroad by Rotary District 5320, which covers Orange County and parts of Los Angeles County.

Seiglie is a 2008 UCI graduate who majored in neurobiology. She plans to work on a master’s in public health/community health in Spain. Her ultimate goal is the study of medicine with a focus on diabetes. She has served as a research assistant at New York University School of Medicine, UCI and Harvard Medical School.

Since 1947, Rotary’s Ambassadorial Scholarships have afforded nearly 38,000 men and women from about 100 nations the ability to study. The purpose of the Ambassadorial Scholarships program is to further international understanding and friendly relations among people of different countries and geographical areas.

WORTH REPEATING

Thought for the Day as provided by Greg Kelley of the Newport-Mesa-Irvine Interfaith Council ...“I wouldn’t say anything is impossible. I think that everything is possible as long as you put your mind to it and put the work and time into it.”
