Magazine founders speak at business club

The Laguna Beach Business Club invites the public to meet the founders of Laguna Beach Magazine. Ben Warner and Steve Zepezauer, two locals who started the magazine, will speak to members of the Business Club and guests at 7:30 a.m. Thursday at the Hotel Laguna, Catalina Room.

Warner and Zepezauer started Laguna Beach Magazine one year ago. They will discuss the unique challenges and opportunities of print and online media. The public is invited to attend. Curves holds open house

Mary Krueger, owner of Curves in Laguna Beach, is inviting everyone to stop in at the fitness center from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 23 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 1100 S. Coast Hwy. The open house event will include refreshments as well as a special offer for new members.

“This is a chance for someone to come in and see the equipment we have, and learn more about our program,” Krueger said. Curves provides an exercise and weight control program designed specifically for women.

Style Week to feature Lauren Conrad

Designer and reality show star Lauren Conrad, of MTV’s “Laguna Beach” fame, will celebrate her Orange County homecoming as she kicks off the first-ever Style Week Orange County at Irvine Spectrum Center Sept. 8 through 13.

Nordstrom, Macy’s and H&M; will join Orange County surf brands Hurley and Roxy for a week of fashion shows and in-store events.

Conrad will debut her fall collection with a runway show Sept. 8 at Irvine Spectrum Center. Her line is carried at Nordstrom at Irvine Spectrum Center.

“This is a wonderful homecoming for me, and I look forward to seeing old friends, and making new ones,” said Conrad, who now stars in “The Hills” on MTV. “I’m excited to return to my roots and participate in the first-ever Style Week Orange County.”

The weeklong fashion event will feature six runway shows and dozens of in-store fashion events, designer appearances and a House of Style. Among the events will be Adam Saaks of Ed Hardy, who will custom create his signature T-shirts for customers at Metropark, and Olympic medalist and 2008 ESPY winner Gretchen Bleiler, who is launching a line she designed for Oakley.
