Possible last-minute candidate pulls papers

One potential candidate for Costa Mesa’s City Council may take advantage of the extended filing deadline for nomination papers.
Christopher McEvoy picked up nomination papers from the city clerk’s office Tuesday. Ordinarily, nominations would have only been accepted until this past Friday, but because incumbent Councilwoman Linda Dixon did not file for the running candidates have until 5 p.m. Wednesday to file their paperwork.
One other Costa Mesa resident and community volunteer, Cindy Brennaman, pulled papers Friday, but has since decided not to run, according to City Clerk Julie Folcik.
In order to be put on the November ballot the contenders would have to get 20 signatures from registered Costa Mesa residents and turn them into the clerk’s office.
