The attorney representing a woman who said she had a miscarriage after being involved in a car crash with mixed-martial-arts fighter Quinton “Rampage” Jackson declined to respond Friday to Ultimate Fighting Championship President Dana White’s reported comments that it was “not a criminal thing.”
“That one is out there like, ‘He hit her and she lost her baby,’ ” White said in an interview with Yahoo! Sports. “It was a week later. He knocked her mirror off her car. Rampage said, and he’ll tell you when you talk to him, ‘I care about everybody. I care about all life. I would never hurt anybody.’
“That’s the way he is,” White said. “Now he’s in a situation where somebody’s trying to civil sue him and make some money. Absolutely not. Absolutely not, this is not a criminal thing. No way. I’m no lawyer and I’m no judge, [but] this stuff will be worked out in the court.”
Darren Aitken, the attorney representing Holli Griggs, 38, of Huntington Beach and Griggs’ fiancee Bill Krebs both declined to respond to White’s comments.
Jackson, former light heavyweight title holder in the UFC suffered from a combination of personal problems and a lack of sleeping and eating July 15 when he was arrested after police say he hit at least three cars and ran from authorities, he told Yahoo! Sports Thursday.
Jackson, who is free on $25,000 bail and has yet to be charged for the incident, told Yahoo! Sports his personal and emotional problems prevented him from eating and sleeping in the days leading up to the alleged July 15 chase.
White, who bailed Jackson out of jail, said Jackson had drank too many energy drinks and had not eaten or slept enough when he was arrested, Yahoo! Sports reported.
In mid-July, authorities say Jackson sped down the median lane of the southbound 55 Freeway before going down Newport Boulevard. Griggs was driving one of the cars hit by Jackson and was more than 16 weeks pregnant at the time.
She had a miscarriage two weeks later, Krebs, said.
