Orville Kenneth Nelson

July 9, 1933-August 2, 2008

On Saturday, August 2nd, 2008, Ken Nelson, the son of the late

Orville and Florence Nelson, passed away peacefully at his home in

Newport Beach with his wife and family at his side after fighting a

brave battle against lung cancer.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara and his two children, Nan

Richardson and K Will Nelson; his grandson, Chris Irvine of Newport

Beach; his sister Patti (Gene) Ward of Nebraska; Step-children, Leanne

Marvin, Michael (Kathy) Marvin and grandchildren of Mission Viejo.,

Rick (Amy) Marvin and Nick Marvin of Kauai and 8 grandchildren

in Kauai.

Ken was born in Hollywood, California and graduated from Newport

Harbor High. He attended University of Southern California (USC)

and became a dedicated season ticket holder to the USC football

games.

A member of the Mackerel Flats Yacht Club, Ken enjoyed many

wonderful friendships, great times traveling and Monday Night

football gatherings. He was also a member of the Newport Beach

Yacht Club.

A memorial will be held on Tuesday, August 12 2008 from 11:00 a.m.

to 1:00 p.m. at the Newport Beach Yacht Club followed immediately

by a burial at sea in the waters off the coast of Newport Beach.

Donations are being accepted in lieu of flowers for a memorial bench

to be placed on his beloved Balboa Island.
