Authorities combine efforts for warrants

A joint operation between Orange County sheriffs and Costa Mesa police to round up people wanted on warrants netted several arrests Friday morning, police said.
“There’s a ton of warrants that need to be enforced and whenever they add up we might do one of these,†said Jim Amormino, Orange County Sheriffs spokesman. Outside the Costa Mesa police station Friday morning, nearly a dozen sheriffs and Costa Mesa police officers could be seen going over the plan, donning regular clothes and bulletproof vests with guns strapped to their legs.
Authorities were serving low-level warrants, meaning warrants for people who haven’t paid their tickets, missed a court appearance or aren’t showing up for DUI court appointments. The operation lasted from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday and resulted in nine arrests, police said.
