> Franklin Irwin Remer, long-time Orange County resident and attorney,
> died of kidney cancer on July 6 at his home in Corona del Mar. Frank
> maintained a positive attitude throughout his illness and had recently
> celebrated his 79th birthday, surrounded by friends and relatives.
> Frank was born in New York City on June 7, 1929. He met his future wife,
> Alice Willner, at Erasmus Hall High School in Brooklyn. They married on
> December 22, 1949. Frank attended Brooklyn College and studied at
> Brooklyn Law School, where he received his law degree in 1952. During
> the Korean War, he joined the army and became a Judge Advocate,
> attaining the rank of captain by the end of his service.
> Frank joined the law firm of Hurwitz & Hurwitz in Newport Beach and soon
> became a partner. He stayed with the firm, now Remer, DiVencenzo and
> Griffith, through his career. He believed strongly in settling disputes
> whenever possible by mediation and arbitration and served as a pro tem
> judge, arbitrator and mediator.
> Frank loved music and had a keen interest in politics. He wrote the
> bylaws for the Oasis Senior Center in Corona del Mar and served on the
> boards of the Orange County Fair and the Friendship Shelter in Laguna
> Beach. For five seasons he served as president of the Baroque Music
> Festival of Corona del Mar.
> Frank’s interests ranged from magic and astronomy and woodworking to
> folk dancing and travel. He enjoyed the family’s annual tent camping
> trips to visit the National Parks. Frank and Alice attended plays and
> concerts every month with friends; Frank also organized classical music
> tours of Eastern Europe.
> Frank is survived by his wife Alice, children Dan (Chihiro), Paul
> (Vicki), Wendy (John) and Rosalind (Jim) and grandchildren Jeff
> (Ashley), Eric, Henry, Amy, Phil, William, Caroline, Sophie, Karina and
> Akina, all of whom will miss him very much.
> A memorial celebration to honor Franks life will take place at 2:00 PM on August 17th at the
> Jasmine Creek Clubhouse, 110 Jasmine Creek Drive in Corona del Mar. In
> lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a donation in Frank’s memory may
> consider the following organizations:
