BREAKERS LOSE AGAIN

ST. LOUIS — The Newport Beach Breakers fell behind early and lost their third straight match, 22-18, to the St. Louis Aces on Tuesday at the Dwight Davis Memorial Tennis Center.

Newport Beach’s Ramon Delgado and Kaes Van’t Hof fell in men’s doubles, 5-4, against Uladzimir Ignatik and Travis Rettenmaier. St. Louis’ Jelena Pandzic then topped the Breakers’ Michaela Pastikova in women’s singles, 5-1.

Delgado came back for a 5-2 victory over Ignatik in men’s singles. Pastikova and sub Becky Bernhard, a former UC Irvine tennis player, then lost to Jasmin Woehr and Pandzic in women’s doubles, 5-2.

Van’t Hof and Pastikova won 5-4 over Woehr and Rettenmaier to force overtime, but the Aces won the second overtime game to end it.

Newport Beach (1-3) is back home at Newport Beach Country Club on Thursday night at 7. The match against the Springfield Lasers will be the only home match of the season for Breakers marquee player Lindsay Davenport.
