The Huntington Beach Surf Walk of Fame recently announced its 15th class of inductees. The six inductees will have their footprints marked in front of Jack’s Surfboards, cementing their status as significant contributors to the sport and its culture.
Among the list of six inductees are Andy Irons, Wayne Lynch, Buzzy Trent, Drew Kampion, Lynn Boyer and Rich Chew. Chew, a Huntington Beach native, recently retired after more than three decades of service with the San Clemente Lifeguards.
Kampion, the former editor of Surfing magazine, is the first journalist to be honored by the Walk of Fame, while Boyer is the only female in this year’s class.
The ceremony to honor these individuals for their contributions to the world of surfing will be at 10 a.m. July 24 in front of Jack’s Surfboards. The festivities will all be part of the Honda U.S. Open of Surfing, the world’s largest professional surfing competition.
Attracting over 400,000 spectators each year, the U.S. Open begins on July 18 and will run until July 27.
