The nonprofit citizens group Speak Up Newport has announced Corona del Mar High School student Andrew Halladay as one of the winners of the 2008 Dorothy Hardcastle Scholarship award.
Halladay has volunteered more than 1,500 hours over the past three and a half years as a member of the Newport Beach Police Explorers. Speak Up Newport awards two $1,500 scholarships annually to graduating seniors at Newport Harbor High School and Corona del Mar High School as recognition for their contributions to their community. Established in 1982, the awards are in memory of Dorothy Hardcastle, an original member of Speak Up Newport.
