Newport Beach police are looking for a woman they say punched one woman and tried to run over two men in a road rage incident Sunday afternoon near the Balboa Pier.
At about 4:30 p.m. Sunday, 20-year-old Candice Bonelli of Chino Hills, 25-year-old Miguel Samayoa of Los Angeles and Fernando Hernandez, 20, of Pomona were attacked by a woman police describe as Asian, 5-foot-1, 120 pounds in her mid-30s to early 40s with black hair and brown eyes.
The group began arguing with the woman about a space in the A Street parking lot near the Balboa Pier, said Sgt. Evan Sailor. The woman got out of her car and punched Bonelli in the face, Sailor said. She then got back into her black Toyota Tundra and tried to run over Samayoa and Hernandez, hitting Samayoa’s hand and hitting Hernandez’s side, Sailor said.
Both men refused medical treatment, Sailor said. Police are looking to charge the driver with assault with a deadly weapon.
