PARIS, France — Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh continued their pre-Olympic dominance, capturing gold at the Henkel Grand Chelem Sunday, in one of the toughest volleyball warmups for the Beijing Games this summer.
May-Treanor, a Newport Harbor High product, was selected as the Most Outstanding Player for the women.
For May-Treanor and Walsh this is their third Henkel Chelem title in four years and second consecutive title on the FIVB tour in as many attempts in 2008. They have now captured eight titles this year including six on the AVP Crocs Tour and remain unbeaten in 2008.
May-Treanor and Walsh faced off in the finals against fellow Americans, Rachel Wacholder and Tyra Turner. For Turner and Wacholder this is their second medal on the international circuit this year, also earning a silver medal earlier this month in the FIVB’s tournament in Stare Jablonki, Poland.
