Liberty Baptist to Celebrate 32 Years of Ministry

Liberty Baptist Church began in July of 1976 in a hotel in Costa Mesa. By 1978 the growing young church had purchased 12 acres of land in the city of Irvine, and on their third anniversary dedicated their first building.
Pastor Dwight Tomlinson was called to the church in August of 1990. The indebtedness, at that time, was a little over $530,000.00. Pastor Tomlinson led the church into a program designed to eliminate the indebtedness on the property. God provided in miraculous ways, and on December 31, 1997 the mortgage was burned. The church was now debt free. Liberty greeted a new year for the first time in 22 years without the crippling effects of debt.
Two miles away in the city of Newport Beach was a complete church facility. The campus was appraised at several million dollars more than Liberty’s property in Irvine. The Lord miraculously opened the door for Liberty to trade properties with the other church on an “even-swap” basis.
On March 1, 1998 Liberty Baptist Church and Newport Christian School moved into one of the most beautiful and functional church campuses in America.
Pastor Tomlinson and the people of Liberty Baptist Church are rejoicing in the goodness of God in this miraculous provision. We believe that God honored their commitment to “owe no man anything, but to love one another..” Romans 13:8, by providing a place where it is possible for thousands of people to come together on a weekly basis for the worship and praise of the Lord Jesus Christ!
