The Newport Beach Public Library will kick off its 2008 summer reading program Saturday with family events at three libraries.
Registration begins at 10 a.m. at the Central Library, Crean Mariners Branch Library and Balboa Branch Library. The festivities will include music, magic, balloons and family entertainment that will begin at 10:30 a.m. As part of the reading program, children of all ages will track their reading time or time spent reading with an adult throughout the summer.
More than 2,000 children participated in the program last year, which encourages reading and regular visits to the library with weekly programs, game sheets and lots of prizes.
This year’s program will run through Aug. 15 with the theme “Catch the Reading Bug.”
