Not only will the Daily Pilot Cup this year provide a taste of fun competition, but friends and family will have the opportunity to dine together with goodies from the Newport Rib Company.
The family restaurant is teaming up with Sonora Elementary PTA and Costa Mesa High School Cheer to provide dinner and munchies to soccer fans at the Farm Sports Complex snack bar.
“I have kids playing in the Daily Pilot Cup, and I grew up in the area, so it only made sense to get involved and make the experience for the local community even better,” said John Ursini, proprietor of Newport Rib Co.
Sonora Elementary PTA will use funds from the booth to help pay for library books and accelerated reading programs at the school.
Costa Mesa High School Cheer is serving snack shack guests to raise money for tournament fees.
Ursini is supplying the two groups food from his restaurant at cost.
“I am providing two staff members per day who will help prepare the food,” Ursini said.
Players, parents, and friends can get the Newport Rib Meal Deal, a $6 combination of Ribs, Mac-’n’-cheese, and beans.
Another option is the Student Meal Deal. For $3, hungry guests will receive a hot dog, chips, and soda or water.
The booth will be up until the Daily Pilot Cup ends on Sunday.
