LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Newport Harbor High product Misty May-Treanor and partner Kerri Walsh captured their fourth Assn. of Volleyball Professionals title Monday by sweeping two matches.
May-Treanor and Walsh defeated Jenny Johnson Jordan and Annett Davis, 21-14, 21-11, in Sunday’s final, after topping sisters Katie and Tracy Lindquist, 21-14, 21-12, in the morning semifinals.
It was the first tournament for May-Treanor and Walsh since Walsh injured her surgically repaired shoulder while winning the Huntington Beach event on May 3.
The winners split $20,000.
May-Treanor had nine kills and 11 digs in the final.
UC Irvine product Whitney Pavlik and partner Jennifer Snyder finished tied for ninth, enabling them to split $2,875.
Ty Tramblie, another former Newport Harbor High standout, finished tied for 17th with partner Mike Morrison to split $800 in the men’s tournament.
