American Legion Post installs 2008-09 officers

The Laguna Beach American Legion Post 222 has installed new officers for the 2008-09 year term, with Dave Connell elected to serve as commander for a third time in the last 10 years.

Diane Connell will serve as president of the Auxiliary for her eighth year.

Past Commander Richard Moore has assumed all adjutant and related responsibilities of former Adjutant Jim Law, who passed on to Post Everlasting last December.

The following Legionnaires will also assume their elected positions of responsibility: 1st Vice Commander, Bill Kremer; 2nd Vice Commander, Hal Werthe; Adjutant/Finance Officer, Richard Moore; Sergeant-at-Arms, Don Hurlbut; Chaplain, Frank Visca; Assistant Chaplain, Norm Abbod; Service Officer, Hal Werthe; Judge Advocate, Dean Petersen; Junior Past Commander, Bill Sandlin.

Clay Baxter, Commander of Richard M. Nixon Post 679, was the Installing Officer.

Also at the same meeting, the following officers of Post 222 Auxiliary Unit were installed by Diane Connell: Vice President, Sandi Werthe; Secretary/Treasurer, Jean Law; Sergeant-at-Arms, Toni Abbod; Chaplain, Madeleine Visca.
