Orange Coast tennis duo recognized for debuts

Orange Coast College freshmen Brittany Bass and Brittnie Furuvald, who won the state community college doubles title Saturday, have both received individual recognition from the Intercollegiate Tennis Assn.

Bass was named Freshman Player of the Year in the community college ranks, while Furuvald was named Freshman Player to Watch.

The tandem combined to go 33-5.

Bass was also named the Orange Empire Conference Player of the of the Year. She helped lead the OCC women’s tennis team to an undefeated conference record.

She reached the quarterfinals of the state individual championships. She also reached the final of the Ojai Valley Tournament and the OEC Championships.
