UCLA, USC to meet in women’s polo title game

Top-seeded UCLA and No. 3 USC each won semifinals of the women’s water polo NCAA Tournament on Saturday at Stanford, advancing to today’s title game.
UCLA, the three-time defending national champion, topped UC Davis, 11-4, while USC got by Stanford, 10-6.
Bruins junior goalie Brittany Fullen, a Corona del Mar High product, had six saves against UC Davis, adding to her single-season team record of 231. Newport Harbor High product Anne Belden, also a junior, scored two consecutive goals for UCLA (32-0), giving the Bruins a 3-1 lead in the first half.
USC sophomore Tumua Anae, who graduated from CdM, had 11 saves against the Cardinal. Newport Harbor product Kally Lucas, also a sophomore for the Trojans (21-7), scored a goal.
The rivals will play in the championship game today at 6 p.m. at Stanford.
