CHARLESTON, S.C. — Ty Tramblie, a Newport Harbor High product, and his teammate Mike Morrison upset the No. 2-seeded team of John Hyden and Brad Keenan at the Assn. of Volleyball Professionals Charleston Open Thursday.

Tramblie and Morrison, the No. 18 seed, defeated Hyden and Keenan, 21-18, 21-19. Tramblie and his partner also beat Adam Roberts and Vince Robbins, 21-19, 21-17, in the first round.

“We’re really happy to have beaten them, especially after finishing 17th last weekend [at the Huntington Beach Open],” Tramblie said in a release. “We weren’t super nervous and we felt we didn’t have anything to lose. We played them in Dallas and we took them to three [games], so we knew we had a good shot.”
