New hotel has green commitment
A new small hotel opening this summer in Laguna Beach, seven4one, is having green amenities built in. The hotel is affiliated with the Green Hotels Assn, signifying a commitment to water and energy saving practices, waste reducing measures, and the use of natural, organic and fair-trade provisions whenever possible.
The new hotel, formerly the Eiler Inn at 741 S. Coast Hwy., will feature more than 30 green initiatives. Renovations on the 60-year-old building include energy-efficient windows; low demand, high-efficiency HVAC systems with auto shut-off; tankless water heaters; low flow, dual flush toilets; PIN activated door locks, low energy florescent and LED lighting; energy star appliances and custom designed waste-wise mattresses.
The hotel will use chemical-free cleaning and maintenance products, biodegradable bath amenities, adhere to a linen and laundry conservation policy, and eliminate the use of plastic bottled water by installing filtered water stations, water pitchers and reusable personal water carriers.
