Sign up for golf game benefiting charity
Sign-ups are now being taken for the Kiwanis Club of Costa Mesa’s sixth annual golf tournament to benefit Costa Mesa and Estancia high schools, and TeWinkle Middle School.
Players will shoot a round of golf in parties of four at Costa Mesa’s 18-hole Mesa Linda municipal golf course, then adjourn to the Newport Rib Co. for a buffet dinner. Tournament organizer Charles Markel said this fundraiser is unique because it benefits a different local charity each year, which encourages collaboration among the charities involved.
“It’s not only a fundraiser, it’s a ‘friend-raiser.’ Our goal is to bring the community together and help out where we can,” Markel said.
The entry fee for the tournament is $100 per person and the competition will be scored in categories, including lowest net score, lowest gross score, closest to the pin and longest drive, with the winner of each category receiving a plaque.
At the restaurant there will be a raffle and a live auction. As of Thursday, roughly 30 seats were still available, Markel said.
