Salata to support local schools again with contest
Paul Salata is at it again.
The founder of Mr. Irrelevant and Irrelevant Week, which celebrates the NFL Draft’s final selection, is conducting a contest with a winning prize of $500. But a Newport-Mesa high school will also win, as one of the four (Corona del Mar, Costa Mesa, Estancia, Newport Harbor) will receive $1,000.
Entrants guess who this year’s Mr. Irrelevant will be and with their entry they include the school they want to support. The school with the most entries will receive $1,000. Last year, Estancia edged out Newport Harbor for the cool grand.
The draft contest is free to enter and eligible to anyone. Whoever can correctly guess Mr. Irrelevant XXXIII, or the player closest to being the final pick, will receive $500. In the event of a tie, Mr. Irrelevant himself will choose at random to determine the winner.
Last year, Lynn Lehr of Newport Beach won the contest.
To enter send an e-mail to [email protected] or send a fax to (949) 263-1141. Include draft selection guess, your name, phone number and which Newport-Mesa high school you support. Entries can also be dropped off at Irrelevant Week Headquarters, 3723 Birch Street, Suite 11 in Newport Beach.
The NFL Draft is April 26-27.
This year, the St. Louis Rams will have the final pick, Mr. Irrelevant. This is the third time the Rams have had the final selection, but the first since they’ve been in St. Louis.
