Individual Championships
MISSION VIEJO — Orange Coast College freshmen Brittany Bass and Brittnie Furuvald captured the doubles championship with a three-set victory Friday at Saddleback College.
Top-seeded Bass and Furuvald defeated No. 2-seeded Caroline Houston and Jenny Vatelia of Riverside, 1-6, 6-3, 6-1. Houston and Vatelia had defeated Orange Coast’s Evelyn Wallace and Kalin Eshelman, 6-1, 6-1, in the semifinals.
Bass, also the top seed in singles, fell in the final to Erina Hung of Saddleback, 6-1, 6-1.
Bass, Furuvald and Costa Mesa High alumna Wallace all earn all-conference recognition for singles, as do both Pirates doubles teams. Bass, Furuvald and Wallace also advance to the Southern California regional tournament scheduled to begin May 1 in Santa Barbara, as do both aforementioned OCC doubles teams as well as the team of Emily Garcia and Jasmine Mathieson, another Costa Mesa High product.

LOS ANGELES — Lauren Machanis had nine saves for the Anteaters in nonconference action Friday.
Jessica Lewis led No. 8-ranked UCI with two goals while Nicole Hughes had four for No. 13 Loyola Marymount at the Burns Aquatic Center.
UCI (15-10) will compete at the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Championship in San Diego which begins Thursday.
