Cultural-affairs speaker, discussion featured at OCC

Orange Coast College will give students and community members a chance to learn about various cultures at the school’s Cultural Awareness Day in the Student Center Lounge April 23.
Ali Rahmani, an expert in cultural affairs, will be the featured speaker at the free event that will also offer refreshments.
Rahmani will speak from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on “Courageous Conversations or Constructed Imaginary? From Margin to Center.”
Following Rahmani’s presentation will be a round-table discussion from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. with OCC faculty about “Cultural Stories: How Culture Relates to Identity.”
Music professor Ricardo Soto, counseling services professor Clyde Phillips, psychology instructor Lien Pham, library and information science professor Vinta Oviatt and OCC student Imran Bashir will participate in the discussion.
