Democratic party seeks delegates for convention

The Orange County Democratic Party is encouraging local Democrats to consider running for delegate positions at the 2008 Democratic Convention in Denver this summer.

Opportunities to serve as two kinds of delegates — those arranged by congressional district and others representing California “at-large” — are available, Political Director Lindsay Hopkins said.

A third kind of delegate, composed of party and elected officials, is also available, though most people will not qualify for that status, she said.

Videos explaining the application process are available at ocdemocrats.org/index.php/ dpoc/index2.

Those seeking candidate forms may obtain them through tinyurl.com/2vmkhn to file their status with the state party.

Delegates will be responsible for their own lodging and transportation, she said.
