THE CROWD:

High fashion collided with high purpose as the Harvesters, in support of the Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County, converged upon the Oscar de la Renta salon at South Coast Plaza.
It was an in-store cocktail party to welcome Oscar to the O.C. Alex Bolen, chief executive of Oscar de la Renta, jetted in with his über talented wife, Eliza, who happens to be the creative director for the international fashion firm.
The Bolens were greeted with appropriate pomp by South Coast Plaza first family members Elizabeth and Henry Segerstrom, joined by corporate stars in the Segerstrom sky, Debra Gunn Downing and Kathryn Glassmyer. The social star of the evening was the svelte and glamorous Robin McMonigle, Harvesters 2007 event chairwoman, and wife of real estate kingpin John McMonigle.
The tall, blond McMonigle presided over the evening as her corral of confederates descended. Forget the TV shows about O.C. — this is where the 30-something glamour crowd lives socializes and sizzles.
The gals and their men were checking out the Oscar collection, a return to great style in the world of prêt-a-porter. The store also features signature lines of accessories, shoes, handbags and jewelry. This is the second salon for Oscar on the West Coast; he opened in 2007 on Melrose Place in West Hollywood.
Sipping champagne as the music began to pulsate, event honcho David Rodgers and fashion producer Jack Alexander created a heart-pounding, in-store fashion show featuring beautiful women wearing beautiful clothing by Oscar courtesy of LA Models. Warren Tricomi did the hair, and NARS handled the makeup.
McMonigle and friends raised the fashion bar in the O.C. while supporting one of the most needed charitable concerns: feeding people.
Oscar de la Renta joined with the Harvesters in donating to the cause that feeds an estimated 450,000 folks who go hungry in what is arguably one of the wealthiest communities on the planet.
Funds that go to the Second Harvest Food Bank are used to assist some 400-member charities that collect and distribute food in every corner where need exists. In addition, the money goes to some 30 “Kids Cafes” that provide after-school food programs for children.
Some of the gorgeous gals in the crowd making a difference were: Kay Warriner, Donna Boyajian, Lauren Pronger, Connie Dismore, Alexandra Kimball, and the new Harvester’s event chairwoman Susan Paek.
