Eagles’ McDaniels named Co-MVP of Orange Coast

Estancia High senior forward Stacy McDaniels was named Co-Most Valuable Player of the Orange Coast League with Laura Renault of Laguna Beach.

McDaniels led the Eagles to a second-place finish behind Costa Mesa in league. McDaniels had 12 goals on the season and 19 assists. She had four goals and six assists in league. Estancia lost to Mayfair, 3-0, in the second round of the CIF Southern Section Division III playoffs Feb. 20 after beating Beverly Hills, 1-0, in the first round.

Senior forward Jennifer Thomas was a repeat all-league honoree, this time on the first team. Thomas made the second team last season. Thomas was second on the team with 12 goals and nine assists.

Freshman Erin O’Neil, another first-team selection, was a major part of the Eagles’ 3-1 win and 1-1 tie against rival Costa Mesa. Senior forward Taylor West, who had eight goals, was a first-team selection.

Midfielder Nushin Tasbichi, midfielder Abby Schaefer, and defender Cory Chapin made the second team.
