SAN DIEGO — Freshman outside hitter Grant Keene had 11 kills and two service aces in the Pirates’ 30-20, 30-17, 30-20 victory in a Pacific Coast Conference match Friday.
Freshman defensive specialist David Lasezkay had two aces and six digs for OCC (7-5, 4-2 in conference)

IRVINE — UC Irvine had two NCAA-regional qualifiers in the 3,000-meter steeplechase Friday.
In the men’s race, senior Sky Johnston won the event with a time of 8 minutes, 59.48 seconds for the eighth-fastest time in school history as he qualified for the NCAA West Regional May 30-31 at Cal State Northridge.
Senior Tim Hearst finished second in Friday’s race with a time of 9:14.47.
In the women’s steeplechase, junior Lauren Chramosta placed third in 10:49.92 to qualify for the regional as she ran the second-fastest time in UCI history behind Jenny Liou’s time of 10:47.01 set in 2003.

COSTA MESA — The No. 4 Lions cruised through their singles matches, with scores ranging from 6-0 to 6-3 in the nonconference match Friday at Vanguard.
Hana Jurcovicova, Betyel Tesfa, Jelena Jovic, Damia Donkervoort, Anna Valingsten and Olivia Amstad all won for Vanguard (12-2). The doubles teams of Donkervoort and Jurcovicova, Jovia and Tesfa, and Valingsten and Amstad were also winners.
