Orange Coast vs. Golden West
COSTA MESA — The OCC men posted a 108-46 win over the visiting Rustlers, while the OCC women topped GWC, 117-35, Friday.
The biggest highlight of the day for the Pirates came in the men’s discus, where sophomore Andres Rossini broke a 32-year-old school record with a winning throw of 167 feet, 8 inches. The previous-best throw was 167-3, set by Judd Binley in 1976. Rossini’s mark was nearly 37 feet farther than runner-up Adam Pierce’s throw of 130-9.
Double-winners for the Pirates included Nick St. Andre, who placed first in both the 1,500 meters (4 minutes, 15.13 seconds) and the 3,000 (9:23.98) and Spencer Aguilar, who crossed the tape first in the 110 hurdles (16.21) and the 400 hurdles (1:03.88).
Other OCC winners include Brian Bennett (11.49 in the 100), Morgan Rose (50.08 in the 400), Jason Quezada (2:00.97 in the 800), Chris Macke (22-7 1/4 in the long jump), Evan Campbell (42-10 1/4 in the triple jump) and Scott Ruud (130-4 in the hammer throw. The Pirates also took first in the 400 relay (44.13) and the 1,600 relay (3:29.71).
On the women’s side, double-winners were provided by Brianna Vanderwal in the 100 hurdles (16.77) and the high jump (4-10), Tamara Beardsley in the discus (116-8) and the hammer throw (126-8) and Ashley Rodriguez in the 200 (27.54) and 400 (1:00.13).
Individual winners on the women’s side included Ana Rodriguez (13.58 in the 100), Tiffany Hannah (2:32.37 in the 800), Crystal Reed (5:22.17 in the 1,500), Joanna Abarca (11:53.95 in the 3,000), Brenda Finney (1:05.02 in the 400 hurdles), Caitlin Schott (31-1 1/2 in the shot put) and Danielle Morton (92-7 in the javelin throw). The OCC women won both the 400 relay (53.01) and 1,600 relay (4:27.09).
The Pirates will play host to Saddleback in a dual meet Friday at 2 p.m. The meet, originally slated to be at Saddleback College, was moved to OCC because of Spring Break at Saddleback.
MEN’S TENNIS
UC Irvine 5, Yale 2
IRVINE — The Anteaters won the doubles point, then took four singles sets in the nonconference match Friday at UCI.
Senior Alex Sundling won at No. 1 singles, and combined with freshman Khunpol Issara for a No. 1 doubles win for No. 57 UC Irvine (5-7). Senior Victor Lamm also won in both singles and doubles.

WOMEN’S TENNIS
UC Irvine 6, Yale 1
IRVINE — Freshman Brooke Bartlett, playing at No. 4 singles, highlighted the Anteaters’ nonconference victory with a 5-7, 6-3, 10-8 win Friday at Anteater Tennis Stadium.
Seniors Becky Bernhard and Jessica Broadfoot, as well as juniors Heidi Kaloi and Ali Borowicz also won in singles for UCI (9-6), which won two of three in doubles to earn the doubles point.
