Mesa’s Graham, Roche highlight all-league teams
Costa Mesa High striker Kyra Graham was named the Orange Coast League Player of the Year. The junior led the league’s soccer teams in scoring, and helped the Mustangs reach the second round of the CIF Southern Section Division III playoffs.
Graham had 10 goals against league opponents and scored 15 goals during the regular season. She had six assists.
The Mustangs, who lost to Riverside Poly, 2-1, in the playoffs, took top billing in the Orange Coast League for the sixth straight year.
Kristina Roche was named co-Defensive Player of the Year with Claire Rubel of Laguna Beach.
Junior Ayla Medina, Dana Gentling, senior Marina Lazos, and Sam Strodel were all first-team picks this year.
As a defender, Lazos took second-team honors last season. Roche is a former second-team selection as well.
Medina, a forward, was a repeat selection who was named co-MVP with Elizabeth Eddy last season. Eddy, who played for Calvary Chapel, is now at Newport Harbor.
Eric Finn, Brooke Urmson, Brianna Dorame, Cheyenne Lopez, and goalkeeper Jessica Rubright rounded out the Mustangs second-team selections.
