Oilers make league team
Four members of the Huntington Beach High boys’ basketball team recently were named to the 2008 All-Sea View League boys’ basketball team, Coach Fabian Luna announced.
The all-league team was selected by the head coach at each of the league’s six schools.
Seniors Nick Becker and Trevor Carroll, and junior Zach Kimber made the first team.
Nick Neser, a junior, was a second-team selection.
During the 2007-08 season, Becker, who became the school’s all-time leading scorer, averaged 20 points per game and was the league’s leading scorer. He hit 42 three-point baskets and shot 84% from the foul line. He also averaged nearly four assists and two steals per game.
Carroll averaged nearly 10 points and seven rebounds per game.
Kimber canned 70 three-point shots, averaged 17.4 points and just under eight rebounds a game and Neser, a tough defender, averaged 8.4 points an outing.
“I think that we were very well represented in the all-league selections with three Oilers making first team and one a second team selection,” Huntington Coach Fabian Luna said. “These boys worked hard this year and with the success of our team, they have been recognized with these selections.”
