CORONA DEL MAR — Dylan Davis led the Sea Kings with 15 kills against Laguna Beach, which won, 25-23, 21-25, 25-18, 25-19, in a nonleague match Wednesday.
Senior Gus Ellis had nine kills and four blocks for CdM (6-3), ranked No. 3 in CIF Southern Section Division II. Laguna Beach is ranked No. 5.
“They played with more sense of purpose than we did,” CdM Coach Steve Conti said. “They seemed to have more hunger than we did. We just didn’t play that much defense. They were picking up balls that we didn’t go after. They played with a lot more heart than we did.”
Connor Bannan had 42 assists and Spencer Brown finished with nine digs for the Sea Kings, who open play in the Orange County Championships Friday.

COSTA MESA — Sophomore Kyle Prevel had 16 kills for the Eagles in their nonleague match against the Roadrunners, who won 25-23, 25-20, 21-25, 25-21, Wednesday.
Senior Adriel Robles had 15 digs and senior Barry Fryslie had 28 assists for Estancia (2-2). Senior Scott Essen finished with seven blocks and junior Bradley Reitler had five blocks and a block assist for the Eagles, who open play in the Orange County Championships Friday.

COSTA MESA — Bradley Fisher, Ely Zaidler and Danny O’Neil each swept in singles for the Eagles in their nonleague match Wednesday.
Kevin Thomas and Rony Argueta swept at No. 1 doubles for Estancia (3-2), which plays host to Orange today.

COSTA MESA — Senior Danny Harold and sophomores Andrew Dorne and Jake Blitzer each won twice for the Lightning boys in the nonleague meet Wednesday at Estancia.
Dorne won the 200-yard freestyle and 500 free for Sage Hill (2-0), while Blitzer captured the 200 individual medley and 100 butterfly. Harold won the 50 free and the 100 breaststroke.
Senior Beau Caillouette won the 100 free for Sage Hill, which also won all three relays.
Senior Jeff Crosson was the lone event winner for Estancia (3-1), coming from behind to win the 100 back by six one-hundredths of a second.

COSTA MESA — Estancia remained undefeated after easing past the Lightning in the dual meet Wednesday at Estancia.
Senior Shea Kopp won the 200 individual medley and 100 butterfly for the Eagles (4-0). Senior Meagan Kunert was another two-time winner, in the 100 freestyle and 100 backstroke.
Junior Tyler Andrews won the 500 freestyle and also led off two winning relays for Estancia.
Junior Dylan Conroy won the 200 free for the Lightning (1-1).
