Toshiba Classic Day 1

3:10 p.m. Toshiba Classic organizers are reporting more spectators than they originally expected, which has meant parking has become more difficult to find.

Still, said Tony Larsen and Ron Orr, two friends taking in the tournament, it’s not nearly as bad as the Los Angeles Open.

Over the past 40 years, Larsen estimated he’s gone to 50 different tournaments, including three Toshiba events. Orr’s missed one Classic in the last 10 years.

“It’s easy to get to,” Orr said. “It’s close. It’s easy to get in and out of.”

Larsen agreed.

“You go to some tournaments, and it takes an hour just to get out of the parking lot,” Larsen said, referring to the Los Angeles Open.

But Barbara Gereb and Lori Fields had a different experience. “We parked in Egypt,” Gereb said, referring to the Fashion Island lot.

According to the weather.com forecast, it should be in the 70’s and sunny for the length of the tournament. After last year’s rain, that’s probably going to mean even more people over the course of the weekend.

If you don’t want to park in “Egypt,” the best bet is to get here early.
