An inside-the-park home run by Justin Reed in the seventh inning broke open a season-opening Juniors Division game Saturday and sent the Braves on their way to an 8-5 victory over the Dodgers at Huntington Valley Little League.
It was the second hit of the game for Reed and Lance Siegel also doubled in the fifth inning for the Braves.
Hayden Polhamus struck out nine in 3 1/3 innings and Austin Floyd and Nick Gates followed with 3 2/3 innings of scoreless relief pitching.
Riley Baggett threw three innings and Allen Marquez pitched four relief innings for the Dodgers. Michael Christiansen doubled.
In Majors Division action
Dodgers 7, Red Sox 7
Ryan Fishel, Dylan McCarthy, Jake Weiser, Andrew Geiger and Collin Corsmeier had key hits as the Dodgers took an early lead, fell behind 4-3 but rallied to earn a tie against the Red Sox.

Dodgers 5, White Sox 3
Jake McFetridge had a grand slam and Jacob Smith hit a solo home run to lift the Dodgers past the Red Sox.
Joshua Reulein and Kyle Napier had hits for the Sox.

White Shot 5, Mets 4
The White Sox rode the pitching rotation of Robert Baker, Brandon Fields, Jake Bauers and Parker Melfi to a season-opening win over the Mets.
Bauers started the new season with a two-run home run in the first inning off of Mets ace Ben Droillet. Ethan Marlow and Wyatt Foreman also drove in runs for the White Sox.
