UC DAVIS AT UC IRVINE
WHEN: Tonight, 7:05
WHERE: Bren Events Center
RADIO: KUCI/88.9 FM
TV: KVMD
BREAKDOWN: The Anteaters (14-14, 8-6 in the Big West Conference), who are 11-0 in games played on campus this season, play their second-to-last game this season at the Bren Events Center against UC Davis (9-20, 2-12) ... Since Pacific clinched at least fourth place and a much-coveted first-round bye in the conference tournament with a win over UC Riverside Wednesday, UCI needs two wins and two UCSB losses to nab a top-four seeding and a first-round bye in the conference tournament ... Regardless, the ’Eaters would love to close out their regular season with a win tonight and another Saturday against visiting Cal State Fullerton, to go into the Big West Tournament having won five straight and seven of their last eight ... The Aggies, however, trounced the ’Eaters, 74-57, in their first meeting, Jan. 17 at Davis ... That had been the last win for Davis, before the Aggies topped Sacramento State, 83-77, Saturday ... UCI is led by 6-foot-6 senior forward Patrick Sanders, last week’s Big West Player of the Week, who is averaging 15.6 points and 4.7 rebounds per game ... Anteaters senior Darren Fells, a 6-7 center, averages 14.4 ppg and 6.8 rpg and leads the Big West in field-goal shooting (56.8%) ... The Aggies are paced by 6-3 junior guard Vince Oliver (12.4 ppg) ... UCI has held eight of its last 11 opponents to fewer than 60 points and is second in the Big West Conference in scoring defense, allowing 66.1 per game.
