COSTA MESA — Senior guard Jessica Richter finished with a game-high 22 points and grabbed nine rebounds in the No. 2-seeded Lions’ quarterfinal win in the Golden State Athletic Conference Tournament Wednesday.
Vanguard (23-4) advances to the semifinals, where it will play host to No. 6 Cal Baptist Friday at 7:30 p.m. Cal Baptist moved on after upsetting No. 3-seeded Azusa Pacific, 73-62, at Citrus College Wednesday.
Senior forward Melissa Cook added 15 points, five rebounds and three three-pointers for the Lions.
Jasmine Nault finished with 20 points for No. 7 Hope (17-16).

EL CAJON — Sophomore outside hitter Kevin Welch finished with 22 kills in the Pirates’ 18-30, 29-31, 30-25, 30-24, 15-8 Pacific Coast League victory Wednesday.
Freshman opposite Tucker Alleborn had 13 kills and four aces while freshman setter Doug Astor added 54 assists and two solo blocks for OCC (6-2, 2-0).
