Assemblyman Chuck DeVore has named an Irvine councilwoman “Woman of the Year†in her district.
Christina Shea, first elected to the Ccouncil in 1992, was identified by the assemblyman as an elected official with a “consistent history of both upholding fiscal responsibility and promoting good government.â€
The Assembly Women’s Caucus-sponsored program encourages Assembly members to identify a woman in their district to honor in a televised ceremony on the floor of the California State Assembly.
Shea, who has been named as a “Leader of the Year†by the Conservative Women’s Leadership Assn. and among the “Most Influential Women in Orange County†by Orange County Metro Magazine, said she was “very, very pleased and proud†of DeVore’s recognition.
“I’m looking forward to going to Sacramento,†she said. “Even my mother will be coming with me.â€
The event will be on the floor of the California State Assembly Monday.
