Estancia 15, Sage Hill 8

COSTA MESA — Estancia senior center fielder Taylor West hit a pair of home runs, leading the Eagles to the nonleague victory Tuesday at Estancia.

West was three for five with five RBIs for the Eagles (2-1), who also got a home run from senior first baseman Abby Koff (four for four). Sophomore Amy Hartwell got the win.

The game was technically a home game for Sage Hill (1-3), which drew 15 walks.

Lightning senior pitcher Katie McKeon had two hits, two walks and scored a run.

TUSTIN — Junior Bradley Reitler had a team-high 12 kills in Estancia’s 25-18, 17-25, 25-19, 25-19 nonleague win Tuesday at Tustin High.

Senior Barry Fryslie added 21 assists for the Eagles (2-0), while sophomore Tyler Sullivan had 14 assists.

Estancia Coach Mark Cygan said Adriel Robles and Ly Nguyen had great passing for Estancia, which plays host to Loara on Friday at 6 p.m.

Chadwick def. Sage Hill

NEWPORT COAST — The Lightning nearly came back from a 2-0 games deficit but Chadwick held on, 27-25, 25-16, 24-26, 20-25, 15-11, in a nonleague match Tuesday at Sage Hill.

Junior outside hitter Bayle Smith tied a career high with 30 kills for the Lightning (2-4), ranked No. 4 in the CIF Southern Section Division V coaches’ poll. Sophomore Joey Booth had 11 kills and three service aces, while junior setter Michael Bear had 57 assists, 11 digs and two kills.

Coach Dan Thomassen said the Lightning were missing key senior opposite Carl Hillgren, out sick.

Chadwick is ranked No. 6 in Division V.

NEWPORT BEACH — Chase Behr shot two-over-par 38 to earn medalist honors for the Sailors in their nonleague match at Big Canyon Country Club Tuesday.

Mychael Clark (40), Travis Russell (43), Tad Doolin (43), Steve Stoneman (45) also contributed to the win for Newport Harbor (4-0).

The Sailors face Dana Hills today at Santa Ana Country Club.

COTO DE CAZA — Jeff Jones shot the low score for the Sea Kings with a three-over-par 39 at the Coto de Caza Golf Club’s south course Tuesday.

Also scoring for Corona del Mar (1-3) were Connor Corrigan (41), Cambden Nicholson (42), Josh Starnes (46), Nick Freeman (47).

The Sea Kings play against Mission Viejo at Mission Viejo Country Club Thursday.

Northwood 200, Estancia 222

COSTA MESA — Ryan Knapp shot three-over-par 39 to lead the Eagles in their nonleague match at Mesa Verde Country Club Tuesday.

Andrew Ayala (40), Chirs Norne (47), Jordan Young (48) and Ryan Burns (48) also scored for Estancia (1-2), which opens Orange Coast League play against Orange at El Prado Golf Course Thursday.

CORONA DEL MAR — John Doering and Steven Manning each had two hits for the Sea Kings in a pool-play game of the Newport Elks Tournament’s Foothill Division Tuesday at Corona del Mar.

The Sea Kings dropped to 1-2 and will resume tournament action Thursday against an opponent and at a site to be determined.

NEWPORT BEACH — Cody Green, Brock Schuler and Kyle Cablay had one hit each for the Sailors in a pool-play game of the Newport Elks Tournament’s Foothill Division Tuesday at Newport Harbor.

Eric Bonn put the ball in play down the third baseline and it led to a throwing error, causing two runs to score for the Sailors (2-1) in the sixth inning . But Patriot scored three runs in the seventh to secure the win.

Newport Harbor plays Thursday against an opponent and a site to be determined.

CORONA DEL MAR — Senior No. 1 singles player Fabian Matthews swept for the Sea Kings in a nonleague match Tuesday at Corona del Mar.

Matthew’s wins were the only singles victories for Corona del Mar (2-1). Sea Kings Brent Pham and Ryan Peyton won twice in doubles.

Corona del Mar plays at Estancia today at 3:15 p.m.
