CIF Southern Section Masters Meet

RIALTO — Newport Harbor High senior Josh George advanced to the CIF state wrestling meet after finishing 2-2 in at the CIF Southern Section Masters Meet Saturday at Carter High.

The 140-pound George (44-6) finished ninth overall, and will wrestle at Rabo Bank Arena, beginning Friday. The meet concludes Saturday.

George avenged a 6-5 CIF Coastal Division final loss to Danny Diaz of John Glenn Saturday, beating him, 8-5, in his last match of the day.

George lost, 14-6, to tournament champion Cody Boloinger of Sultana, then fell to Paul Bicari of San Clemente, 3-1.

He rebounded to defeat Trevor Mick of Ventura, 10-2, then beat Diaz.
