Grants for local teachers available until March 7
Teachers have a shot at getting their hands on some cash in the next month.
Orange County educators can apply for grants from A+ for Energy until March 7 for an opportunity to receive $5,000 or $10,000 grants from a $1 million pool geared for teachers in Los Angeles, San Bernardino, Riverside, Orange, San Diego and Kern counties.
Award winners will also be invited to an educator training course, and receive a “Science of Energy Kit” and other classroom materials.
Workshops on Feb. 20 in Long Beach and Feb. 21 in Carson will help teachers understand the grant process. Pre-kindergarten through 12th-grade teachers are eligible to apply.
Applications have been mailed to schools. Winners will be announced May 12.
A+ for Energy works with national organizations to provide money to teachers and schools. It has served more than 400,000 students and 13,000 teachers since beginning in California in 2004.
