MAILBAG:
As the only parent from Killybrooke elementary who was quoted for the story (“Boy accused of bringing BB gun is transferred,” Feb. 8), I would like to clarify the timeline of events that had many, many Killybrooke parents upset.
On Jan. 29, a student brought a BB gun to school and threatened two kids. On Jan. 30., my daughter faked being sick to avoid this child. He got suspended for three days, and returned to school Feb. 4. It wasn’t until Feb. 5 that the school principal issued an official letter to the parents, informing us of the incident that happened six days earlier.
On Feb. 7 the same boy made another verbal threat to a different child. It is our understanding that after this second incident, one week later, he got transferred from school. There were many parents who wrote the district, principal, PTA and press expressing concerns over the lack of communication and their children being scared to go back to school. While we feel for the parents of the boy involved, we’re happy the district took the appropriate action needed to protect our children and make the school a safe learning environment that it should be.

DMV makes registering electric pleasure-free
One would believe our local DMV offices would be supporting efforts to reduce the fuel our automobiles are presently using and go to alternative energy. Not true. Recently, after a total of six hours chasing paper work for the DMV, I was finally approved for a license to mount on my 2002 Ford Motor Company Neighborhood Electric Vehicle.
After submitting the required paperwork: pink slip, title transfer application, VIN No. verification, insurance verification, sales contract showing sales tax paid, and now prepared to pay the required fees, I was refused. I was asked to submit a smog test report. This is an electric battery-powered vehicle. There are no emissions. “Well then we need an emissions report from Ford Motor Company. You’ll have to contact them for a letter stating this vehicle has no emissions.” Thanks to Jim Robins at Theodore Robins Ford (who originally sold and licensed this vehicle), DMV at another level was contacted and they in turn convinced the local agency it was OK. I can’t wait for Universal Health Center!
