OCC heart program gets accreditation for 10 years

The Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs gave Orange Coast College’s cardiovascular technology program a 10-year accreditation.
Darryl Isaac, director of OCC’s program, said most programs receive five-year terms and the 10-year term is an achievement.
According to the committee, OCC’s program exceeded established standards, which led to the recommendation.
Isaac has been teaching cardiovascular technology programs since 1979.
There are only 24 slots available for the program each year with high demand. More than 300 students have been trained under OCC’s program.
Most students are older than other college applicants, as OCC reports the average age is 35 for students in the program.
