SANTA ANA — Mustangs junior forward Ayla Medina scored the game-winning goal in the 64th minute, lifting Costa Mesa in the Orange Coast League game Tuesday at Centennial Park.
Medina scored twice and junior Kyra Graham once for the Mustangs (8-8-5, 2-1-3 in league), who battled back from a 1-0 halftime deficit. Junior Cheyenne Lopez and sophomore Danielle Young added assists, while junior Jessica Rubright (two saves) and senior Kalea Seanoa (one) split time in goal.
Natalie Nick scored twice for Calvary Chapel (11-8-2, 1-4-1).
Costa Mesa, which stays in second place in league, will play host to first-place cross-town rival Estancia on Thursday at 3 p.m.

Newport Harbor 23
NEWPORT BEACH — The host Sailors went scoreless in the first quarter and could not recover in the Sunset League game Tuesday night.
It was the second time this season Newport Harbor (6-15, 0-7 in league) has gone scoreless in a quarter. Juniors Nicole Jimenez and Corinne Schnieders scored four points each, as did Katey and Kelly Thompson, a senior.
Schnieders had seven rebounds and Katey Thompson, a sophomore, had six.
Edison improved to 6-1 in league.
Newport Harbor plays at Fountain Valley Thursday at 7 p.m.
