Police report quiet weekend despite rain

While the Newport-Mesa area took a wet beating this weekend, the rest of the week will favor partly cloudy weather with moderate temperatures, according to the National Weather Service.

“We should slowly be drying out ... and basically be getting rid of the showers [today],” meteorologist Steve Vanderburg said. “We might get some showers this weekend, but it’s nothing you’d have to cancel plans for.”

Local police and fire departments reported a quiet weekend despite the downpour, noting they received no significant increase in calls during the storm.

Airport officials at John Wayne Airport also reported a normal schedule during the squalls.

Today’s weather calls for a chance of morning rains that slowly turn to partly cloudy skies with a high in the low 60s.
