UCI’S KIM FINISHES STRONG

LA JOLLA — UC Irvine senior golfer Kenny Kim shot four-over-par 76 in the second round of the Buick Invitational Friday at the Torrey Pines North Course.

He birdied two of his last three holes, par-four No. 16 and par-five No. 18, but missed the cut with a 36-hole total of 11-over 155.

Kim will compete with UCI teammates John Chin, Sean Shahi, Tim Cha and Bryan Harris in the Ping-Arizona Intercollegiate Monday and Tuesday at Arizona National Golf Club in Tucson.

POWERS CLINIC AHEAD

Pat Powers, an Olympic gold medalist, will conduct a 12-hour volleyball clinic at University High in Irvine next week.

The clinic will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Feb. 2 and from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Feb. 3.
